LAS VEGAS - Ben Askren is the undisputed, pound-for-pound champion of trolling the UFC.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is the latest to respond to one of the undefeated OneFC welterweight titleholder's caustic tweets.

On December 29, Askren tweeted a picture of Jones placing third on the medal stand at the New York state high school wrestling meet, which was won by former UFC competitor Matt Riddle.

At Thursday's UFC 182 Media Day at the MGM Grand, Jones shot back.

"Yeah, I saw it," Jones said. "I'm not going to acknowledge it. He's a Bellator fighter. I don't want that to be taken the wrong way, but it's like, bro, you're the king of the JV league."

Askren wasted no time responding. "I'm the king of whichever damn league I please," he tweeted. "Have fun getting beat up Saturday night."

The bulk of the amateur wrestling community has sided with Jones' opponent at UFC 182, Daniel Cormier, over the champion. Jones, whose freestyle career reached the junior college level, poked fun at Cormier's fourth-place finish in the 2004 Olympics during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

Jones understands the difference between the their places in the wrestling world, and insists he wasn't being serious.

"One thing I want to make extremely clear, It was such a joke," Jones said. "But that's one thing he's used to his advantage. Every time I see him say it in his interviews, or whatever ... I was completely joking, everything about my tone, the way I said it, the smile on my face as I was talking."

Cormier, too, saw Askren's initial tweet.

"I saw that, man," Cormier said. "I thought that was pretty funny."
