Alan Patrick squares off against Beneil Dariush at UFC 179

Nearly nine months after scoring the biggest win of his MMA career, Alan Patrick will finally return to the Octagon.

"Nuguette," who defeated John Makdessi at the UFC 169 card in February, is set to take on Beneil Dariush at UFC 179, pay-per-view card scheduled for Oct. 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. UFC officials announced the match-up on Friday.

Dariush (8-1) will attempt his second straight win under the UFC banner after choking out Tony Martin at UFC Fight Night 49 on Aug. 23. The Kings MMA lightweight impressed in his UFC debut in January, tapping UFC veteran Charlie Brenneman in the first round, but suffered his first professional loss against Ramsen Nijem three months later.

Patrick (12-0) signed with the UFC after winning the Bitetti Combat lightweight championship in 2012, and stopped Garett Whiteley with punches in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 29 in 2013. The X-Gym prospect, who trains with the likes of Ronaldo Souza and Erick Silva, hasn’t fought since his unanimous decision win over Makdessi.

UFC 179 takes place at the Maracanazinho gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Here’s the current fight card for Oct. 25.

Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes
Glover Teixeira vs. Phil Davis
Scott Jorgensen vs. Wilson Reis
Fabio Maldonado vs. Hans Stringer
Alan Patrick vs. Beneil Dariush
Felipe Arantes vs. Andre Fili
William Macario vs. Neil Magny
Fabricio Camoes vs. Josh Shockley
