This is the UFC 178 undercard live blog for the UFC 178 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

There will be six fights on the UFC 178 undercard. Dominick Cruz vs. Takeya Mizugaki, Jorge Masvidal vs. James Krause, Patrick Cote vs. Stephen Thompson, John Howard vs. Brian Ebersole, Jon Tuck vs. Kevin Lee, and Manvel Gamburyan vs. Cody Gibson will be featured on the prelims.

Manvel Gamburyan vs. Cody Gibson
Round 1: Here we go, folks. This should be a fun night. Manny Gamburyan makes his bantamweight debut in tonight's curtain jerker. Chris Tognoni is our referee. They touch ‘em up and we're off. Gamburyan stalks Gibson to the fence. But exchange but nothing lands early. Gibson pumps his jab, tosses out a front kick, then pumps that left again. Gamburyan lunges inside but gets reversed and ends up on his knee, with Gibson clutching a front headlock. Quick scramble and Gamburyan gets hit in the nuts. First groin shot of the night out of the way early. We're back. Gamburyan in stalk mode. He's cut under his left eye. Wild spinning wheel kick misses for Gibson. Lots of potshotting here. Gibson finally cracks Gamburyan good and he's hurt. Gibson pressures into the fence but Gamburyan drops levels and dives on a desperation double leg. He gets it. Gamburyan takes a moment while Gibson works to his feet. Heavy salvo of elbows and punches from Gibson but Gamburyan survives. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Gibson.

Round 2: Gibson pushing a heavy pace already. Gamburyan eats a hard combo then fires back. Wild exchange here! Damn, Gamburyan gets cracked in the nuts again, and that one looked bad. He's hurt. Left kick right to the pills. Gamburyan pacing around the cage wincing in pain. Have to wonder if this one is going to continue. Gamburyan wants back in but he doesn't look good. Whoa, Gibson drops him with a huge right! Gibson swarming and Gamburyan is trying to stay alive. Gibson gets it to the floor and starts slamming knees into Gamburyan's side. Heavy salvo of rights for Gibson. Gamburyan eats them then rockets to his feet. He's back in this. Gibson ducks under a wild right, then counters. Gibson connects with a hard one-one-two. Gamburyan ducks under a follow-up shot and Gibson loses his balance. They tumble into the fence. Gamburyan works for a double and gets it, dumping Gibson onto his back. Gibson tries to stand and Gamburyan latches onto a guillotine. Ten seconds left. Gamburyan squeezes with everything he has and coaxes out a tap! Wow. Crazy finish.

Jon Tuck vs. Kevin Lee

Round 1: Jason Herzog is our third man in the cage. Apparently Jon Tuck bleached his hair sometime between yesterday's weigh-ins and today. Lee and Tuck collide in the center of the cage. Nothing lands, but Lee resets then blasts Tuck with a head kick. Tuck wades inside with a head kick of his own. These dudes are throwing! Right hook, head kick lands for Tuck. Lee lunges inside and tosses Tuck to the mat, but it's brief, and Tuck climbs to his feet. After some in-fighting, Lee gets him back down. Lee working from inside Tuck's guard near the fence. Lee postures up and Tuck swings onto an armbar! That was slick. Lee stands and we're back against the cage. Aaaaannnnd there's another nutshot. I see a pattern developing here tonight. Tuck taking a while on this one. Lee pacing impatiently. We're back. Tuck goes high and misses. Big exchange inside as Lee bulls Tuck into the fence. Lee working for a double but can't complete it. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Lee.

Round 2: Immediate Tuck low kick rides up and smacks Lee in the nuts. Geez. Lee shakes it off, then cracks Tuck with a right. Lee pressuring forward winging heavy shots. Big uppercut lands for Lee. Hey, guess what? Another kick to the pills. This time Lee is the recipient. And, strangely, Tuck gets a point taken away even though his groin got obliterated last round. The fight resumes as Lee bulls Tuck into the cage, then digs a few uppercuts to the body. They trade jabs. Lee changes levels and finishes a big slam, landing in half guard. Tuck quickly reclaims his guard, but eats a few short elbows. Tuck throws up a triangle and he might have it! Lee breaks out then tries to unload from the top, but Tuck throw up an armbar instead! It's close enough to pull Lee back into his shell. Herzog stands it up. Lee mixing it up on the feet to close the round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-8 Lee, only because of that awful point deduction. (20-17 Lee.)

Round 3: Lee the aggressor early. Tuck tries to come inside but eats a heavy left in the process. Lee blasts Tuck with a combo that dislodges his mouthpiece. That was wild. Tuck tried to catch the mouthpiece out of the air, failed, and suffered a swarm of punches from Lee because of it. Lee gets Tuck to the mat, while Herzog rushes over and pops the mouthpiece back in Tuck's mouth. Super bizarre sequence there. Tuck is bleeding bad. Lee goes to work from top position. Lee stands briefly, then dives back into Tuck's guard. One minute left and Tuck needs to do something desperate. Lee keeping a steady pace working short punches and elbows. That's all she wrote. Kevin Lee def. Jon Tuck via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)

John Howard vs. Brian Ebersole
Round 1: Referee Chris Tognoni back up for this one. Did John Howard just walk out to a dubstep remix of the Tetris theme? Yes, yes he did. And Ebersole has his hairrow freshly shaved. Excellent. Anyway, Howard comes out swinging. Howard stalking forward while Ebersole circles. They clinch in the center of the cage. Ebersole works Howard over to the fence and goes right to smothering. Tognoni breaks it up. Hard low kick catches Ebersole, who changes levels and hunts for the takedown. Ebersole scrambles to Howard's back, sinks in one hook, but can't get the second. Howard nudges him off then eats a light upkick as he takes top control. Tognoni stops it and warns Ebersole (Howard was on one knee), but that's the end of the round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Ebersole.

Round 2: Howard going back to those low kicks early and he seems to have hurt Ebersole. Howard tries to swarm but Ebersole ties up and recovers. Howard pressure Ebersole to the fence. Another clinch, and Howard trips it to the floor. Slow going here for Howard. Not much happening. This Las Vegas crowd is getting restless. Howard now looking to pass into side control, but Ebersole has him ties up. Ebersole tries to shrimp out only to have Howard take his back in a scramble. Howard with one hook, now two. He's hunting for a rear-naked. Lots of hand-fighting as Ebersole defends well. Ebersole rolls into top position then stands. Howard dives onto a single leg, and gets it. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Howard. (19-19 overall.)

Round 3: Howard looks to engage first, Ebersole circles away. Howard goes low then eats a few stiff jabs. Howard pressures Ebersole against the fence but can't get anything going. They both look tired. Howard ties up and bulls Ebersole against the cage, hunting for a single. No dice. Ebersole mixing it up with short shots. Both guys looking to potshot from range. Ebersole dives back inside the pocket and Howard clinches. Here come the boos. Not the most active fight. Lazy body kick lands for Ebersole. Howard answers with a flurry that bloodies Ebersole's nose. Howard catches a low kick but can't do much with it. We're back to fence fighting. Ebersole disengages. This round (and the fight) is still up for grabs. Howard sprawls away from a takedown attempt. Ebersole clinches then cracks Howard with a few elbows. Stiff left makes Howard think twice. Patrick Cote vs. Stephen Thompson
Round 1: Referee Jason Herzog is back for his second go-round. This one should be fun. Cote goes low, Thompson answers. Both men waiting to fire. Cote finally dives into the clinch along the fence. Thompson reverses then disengages. Thompson bouncing on his heels with that wide stance of his. Cote fends off a lunging straight. Hard counter two-one cracks Cote in the jaw. Thompson flicking out his jab to great effect. Cote catches a leg and drives Wonderboy against the fence. Cote scrambles out, but he looks tentative. Cote rushes inside and hits air. Huge high kick just misses for Thompson. Cote bulls Thompson into the fence at the horn. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Thompson.

Round 2: Cote comes out firing, Thompson still dancing on his feels. Thompson flurries but can't land flush. Hard body kick cracks Cote. Thompson goes low, and again. Cote answers with one of his own. A dagger of a right straight barrels down the pipe from Thompson, who then goes low again. Thompson really starting to open up now. He flurries again but can't connect. Cote fakes right then goes left and lands with a looping shot. Hard low kick for Thompson. Another darting right hand penetrates through Cote's defense. Cote swiftly rushes inside and hunts for a double against the fence. He eats a few Travis Browne elbows then backs out. Cote swarms inside but eats a pair of hard counters that spring the crowd to life! Good exchange to close us out. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Thompson. (20-18 Thompson.)

Round 3: Cote mixing it up with his kicks already. He knows he's down on the scorecards. Thompson swirls away from a level change then fires off a low kick. Thompson not giving Cote an easy target to hit with all his movement. Cote finally chasing him down but can't finish his single leg attempt. Hard counter right knocks the sweat off Thompson's brow. Cote doing all the stalking but finding it hard to track down Thompson. This crowd is getting restless. Thompson bites down on his mouthpiece and fires off a flurry. Huge counter right drops Cote! Thompson swarms! This crowd is alive. Cote climbs back to his feet but he's hurt. Thompson staying patient. Cote fails on a level change and Thompson lets him back up. Thompson snaps a high kick across Cote's chin. Spinning back kick for Thompson. Thompson pouring it on as the horn takes us home. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Thompson. (30-27 Thompson.)

Jorge Masvidal vs. James Krause

Round 1: Referee Herb Dean makes his first appearance of the night. Krause snapping out his jab early. Masvidal hanging back, waiting for his opportunity. Krause goes low then fires off a stiff right. Masvidal walks Krause to the fence then flies a knee into his guts. Masvidal goes right back to the midsection and Krause ties up. They release to the center of the cage as Masvidal misses a spinning wheel kick. Lots of reluctant swinging, not a lot of landing right now. This crowd is just aching to see some violence. Masvidal pressures forward with a flurry. Spinning back kick pushes Krause into the fence. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Masvidal.

Round 2: Krause going to work early, opening things up. Masvidal smiles, then fires back. Krause pushes inside and muscles Masvidal to the mat. Slick sweep lands Masvidal in top position. Masvidal stands, digs a few shots to the body, then ties up against the fence. Krause back inside the pocket, looking to fire off a few jabs. Ladies and gentlemen, our first "Ole" chants have begun. Masvidal flurries and cracks Krause hard. Another salvo snaps back Krause's head. Masvidal changes levels but Krause reverses, scrambles, then latches on a guillotine attempt. Masvidal powers out, then drops Krause with a crushing hook! Best shot of the fight right there. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Masvidal. (20-18 Masvidal.)

Round 3: Krause works inside with a stiff one-two. Masvidal staying patient, measuring his range. There we go, Masvidal rocks inside and snaps Krause's head back with a flurry. Masvidal looking for a trip, but can't get it. Krause reverses away from the fence. His nose is bloodied. Masvidal easily shrugs off a takedown attempt, then tosses Krause to the floor. He's taking over this fight. Masvidal working from half guard with short elbows. Krause looks to stand and does, but he's stuck against the fence. Masvidal lets him go, then nails him with a two-one. Krause just misses a high kick. Masvidal cracks him with a right then dives back inside, only to get quickly reversed along the fence. Masvidal starting to unload now. Krause looks for the trip, but fails and effectively pulls Masvidal into mount. Krause gives up his back. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Masvidal. (30-27 Masvidal.)

Dominick Cruz vs. Takeya Mizugaki
Round 1: Awesome moment here as Dominick Cruz gets the lights-out treatment for his walkout. Chris Tognoni is our referee for this final preliminary fight. There's that crazy Cruz movement. He's all over the place. Cruz explodes into a takedown, then starts unloading against Mizugaki along the fence! Cruz is relentless! Mizugaki trying to survive but this is three years of pent up anger unloading in one furious assault. It's over. Wow. That was wild.
