UFC plans at least seven ‘bigger events’ in Brazil in 2015

BRASILIA, Brazil -- The UFC has three more events scheduled for Brazil this year, and they won’t slow down in 2015.

At the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil, UFC executive Grace Tourinho announced  the date and city for the last UFC card of the year during the UFC Fight Night 51 post-fight press conference.

"It’s official for Uberlandia on Nov. 8, and we already have four fights official, and we’re going to Barueri on Dec. 20," Tourinho said. "We’re going to Rio (de Janeiro) on Oct. 25, and the tickets are almost sold out. We will have great fights and a packed arena."

The Nov. 8 card will be headlined by Mauricio Rua vs. Jimi Manuwa, and also features Rafael Cavalcante vs. Ovince St. Preux, John Lineker vs. Ian McCall and Thomas Almeida vs. Tim Gorman.

Middleweights Lyoto Machida and C.B. Dollaway are expected to headline the Fight Night card in Barueri.

The only pay-per-view card in Brazil in 2014 is the upcoming show -- UFC 179 -- in Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 25, which will be headlined by a featherweight championship bout between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. In 2015, they expect bigger events in the country.

"Our plan for the next year is to do at least the same number of events we did this year, but bigger events," she said. "We’re still working on the coaches for next season of The Ultimate Fighter and the weight classes, but it’s not a done deal yet. We’ll probably have more news about that on Oct. 25. We definitely won’t do less than seven events in Brazil next year."
