Alfred Angulo vs. James De La Rosa

Round 1: Referee Russell Mora is the third man in the ring. Angulo takes the center and paws out his jab. De La Rosa circles left and pops him back. Big overhand right for De La Rosa. De La Rosa digs to the body. Angulo walks him down to the ropes then blocks a three-punch combination. No answer. De La Rosa the more active fighter by far halfway through the opening round. De La Rosa digs to the body again, and again. Double jab from De La Rosa, and another. Angulo finally opens up with a flurry in the corner. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa.

Round 2: Angulo dials up his offense and fires off a series of jabs. De La Rosa backs into the ropes, rolls off a few combinations, then tries to go body-head. Angulo continues to press forward and pop off his jab. Hard right from the pocket cracks Angulo. De La Rosa breaks then presses with a few one-twos. Angulo goes over the top with a right. Round 3: De La Rosa pouring it on early. Angulo blocking most of his foe's punches but failing to mount any return offense. De La Rosa stalks inside and fires off a succession of hard lefts. Angulo opens up and quickly eats a right. Angulo finds his rhythm a bit and goes to the body. De La Rosa answers then circles away. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa. (30-26 De La Rosa.)

Round 4: Angulo keeping it tight and trying to work his jab, but De La Rosa is straight outclassing him right now. Another flurry from De La Rosa and Angulo retreats to his shell. De La Rosa goes over the top with a right. De La Rosa keeping busy and Angulo is absorbing most of these shots. Angulo stalks De La Rosa into the ropes and digs to the body. Quick one-two-three from Angulo. De La Rosa answers by snapping Angulo's head back with a left. De La Rosa feeling it now. Round 5: De La Rosa measures his distance then unloads with a hard flurry. Angulo eats every shot. De La Rosa bounces to the right then unloads again. Hard right from Angulo! Angulo ties up and works a few short punches from the clinch. They break, but Angulo ties up again almost immediately. They break and Angulo connects on a long right. De La Rosa goes head-body, and again. Angulo wings a few short uppercuts from the pocket. De La Rosa answers with a four-punch combination of his own. Round 6: De La Rosa keeping busy with his jab. De La Rosa continues to pour it on against the ropes. Angulo has yet to throw. De La Rosa returns to the center of the ring then unloads a salvo. Angulo absorbing everything. Lunging left from De La Rosa. Angulo is cut over his right eye. Mora warns Angulo to keep it above the belt. De La Rosa throwing with a furious pace. Hard left snaps Angulo's head back, and another. Angulo comes in close, lands a shot, but eats a flurry in the process. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa. (60-53 De La Rosa.)

Round 7: De La Rosa treating that cut like a bullseye right now. De La Rosa paws out a few rights then blasts Angulo with a hard left. Angulo gets another firm warning from Mora for low blows. De La Rosa throwing punches in bunches to Angulo's head. Angulo with absolutely no head movement here. He's just loading up hoping for a big shot now. And there's a good one, Angulo sinks low and digs a hard flurry to the body. De La Rosa retreats then fires off a stiff right cross. Ooof, another low blow from Angulo. More calls time and takes a point. De La Rosa wincing in pain in the corner. We're back, and that's the end of the round. Round 8: De La Rosa still light on his feet, bouncing around and popping off rights and lefts. De La Rosa closes the distance and unloads a combination. Angulo backing up now. De La Rosa the clear aggressor. Soft one-two from De La Rosa, followed by a harder flurry. De La Rosa walks down Angulo and Angulo looks absolutely spent. De La Rosa with a stiff, looping left. Angulo counter with a solid right. Angulo connects a left off the break. He tries to mount a flurry but De La Rosa avoids most of it then mad dogs him as the horn sounds. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa. Round 9: Virgil Hunter repeats over and over to Angulo that if he does not knock out De La Rosa, his career is over. Sobering words him Angulo's corner. De La Rosa is just too fast for him, and he's feeling it now. De La Rosa starting to drop his hands and showboat between flurries. De La Rosa clinches. Angulo connects on a few short lefts but any power they may have had is gone. Angulo continues to trudge forward and hurts De La Rosa with a short left hook! Whoa! The crowd rallies behind the veteran as Angulo stalks De La Rosa into the corner and gives it everything he has. Angulo continues to tag De La Rosa but De La Rosa seems to have regained his wits. Round 10: Virgil Hunter roaring in Angulo's ear during the break. Angulo's right eye is busted up but he's walking down De La Rosa and firing off anything he can. Good right hand from Angulo. De La Rosa goes head-head-body. De La Rosa eats a right then fires back with a hard shot of his own. Stiff uppercut blasts back Angulo's chin. De La Rosa unloads a flurry. Angulo continues to walk him down. Angulo unleashing a furious desperation assault! De La Rosa eating a ton of shots! Miguel Vazquez vs. Mickey Bey

Round 1: Tony Weeks is the referee in charge of this IBF lightweight title fight. And we're off. Vazquez throws first. Bey fires back a jab. Vazquez circles left and paws out a measured series of lefts. Vazquez keeping Bey at the end of his jab. Bey charges inside with a triple-jab, but nothing lands clean. Sharp left hook from Vazquez and he retreats back to range. Bey having trouble getting past that long left. Another triple-jab misses its mark for Bey. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Vazquez. (10-9 Vazquez.)

Round 2: Vazquez sticking with his jab. Quick one-two from Vazquez. Vazquez dives inside and Bey ties up. They break. Vazquez with a quick dig to the body and it's back to distance. Bey ties up and lands a pair of short rights before Weeks breaks 'em up. Ultra measured approach from both men so far. Vazquez goes body-head. Bey whiffs on a double jab. Round 3:
Bey with a double-jab. Vazquez lunges inside with a left to the body. Vazquez goes body-head then dances outside. Another lunging left for Vazquez, but this time Bey cracks him hard with a counter right. Vazquez charges inside and they tie up. Bey feints, then connects with a stiff jab. Bey to the body. Bey starting to find his rhythm. Vazquez charges inside again and clashes heads with Bey. Weeks warns him to watch the headbutts. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Bey. (29-28 Vazquez.)

Round 4: Quick trade of jabs to start us off. Bey with a stiff counter jab. Vazquez sneaks a jab through Bey's guard. Bey hangs back, then misses with a triple-jab. Hard counter right from Bey. Slower pace this round. Vazquez sticks and moves, then eats a double-jab from Bey. Bey unloads another triple-jab and cracks Vazquez's head back. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Bey. (38-38.)

Round 5: Vazquez lunges inside and whiffs on a combination. Bey hangs back then misses on his own overhand right. Bey pumps his jab, then pumps some more, but Vazquez slips it, retreats and circles. Neither fighter willing to commit to much right now. Bey having trouble getting past Vazquez's jab once again. Bey paws out his double-jab but Vazquez ducks around then clinches. Round 6: Slow going early in the round. Vazquez continues to lunge inside and initiate the clinch, but very little offense coming from it. Vazquez dances on the outside and cracks Bey. More boos from this crowd as the pace slows. Another lunging right from Vazquez results in the clinch. Frustrating fight. Lots of clinch but very little punching. And again the boos rain down. Bey completely stationary while Vazquez dances around then pops him with single shots. Finally quick flurry from Bey to close the round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Vazquez. (58-56 Vazquez.)

Round 7: More lunging and clinching from Vazquez. Another tie-up and Vazquez sneaks one over the top. Bey tries to wade inside with a one-two but Vazquez clinches. Wild overhand right misses for Vazquez. Clinch, and clinch, and clinch. C'mon guys. Bey misses a right cross and Vazquez hugs up him. Vazquez sneaks another right hand over the top in the next clinch. Bey moving a bit better this round but Vazquez is still (barely) the busier fighter. Bey unloads a flurry and hits a whole lotta air. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Vazquez. (68-65 Vazquez.)

Round 8: Vazquez wades inside and Weeks splits 'em up. Vazquez with an accidental shot to the back of the head. Weeks issues a warning. Vazquez dives into the clinch to land a hard right. More clinching, very little punching. Bey opens up briefly but can't find a home for his punches. Vazquez clinches. Vazquez continuing to lunge inside with his right hands but none of them landing flush. Bey finally cracks Vazquez with a hard counter as he jumps into the pocket. Good shot there. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Bey. (77-75 Vazquez.)

Round 9: This crowd is absolutely silent right now. Quick clinch from Vazquez. And another. Vazquez with a one-two, then he clinches. Bey tries to unload a flurry as Vazquez clinches again. No dice. Bey eats a soft right and answers with one of his own. Bey pops Vazquez with his jab. All single shots here, very few combinations from either man. Immediate clinch. It doesn't land, but at least it's activity. Bey goes back to his double-jab. Vazquez staying at range and not really doing anything while Bey continues to work his double-jab. Round 11: This is Bey first trip into the eleventh round, though I'm sure he didn't envision it looking like this. Bey sticking with his double-jab. Vazquez circles, fires off a left, then clinches. Bey getting smothered any time he opens up. And there it is again. Bey back to his double-jab. Vazquez slips a looping hook then ties up. More single shots from Vazquez followed by clinching. Round 12: Final round of this fight. (Finally). Counter left hook from Bey as Vazquez lunges inside to clinch. Bey backs up Vazquez with his jab. Vazquez clinches. Dead silence here in Las Vegas. Ranallo quips: "Final 90 seconds... I thought that was going to get a cheer." Bey flurries and connects before Vazquez can circle out. More clinching. Short uppercut from Vazquez off the break. Round 1: Referee Robert Byrd is our third man in the ring for this WBC Super Bantamweight title fight. They touch 'em up and we're off. Santa Cruz goes over the top with a right. Another hard right cracks Roman. Santa Cruz finding a home for that overhand right early and often. Roman goes head-body, then eats a jab. Santa Cruz digs to the body, then goes over the top. Roman staying active inside the pocket. Roman ties up, then slips a three-punch flurry off the break. Hard left hook to the body by Santa Cruz. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 Santa Cruz.

Round 2: Santa Cruz plodding forward while Roman tries to potshot through his high guard. Massive counter one-two blasts Roman off his feet! He's down! That's it. Wow. Roman threw a lazy jab and it was the right hand by Santa Cruz that did it. Cracked him right on the jaw. Just like that, it's over.
