Poll: Is Bellator 122 Worth Watching on July 25?

Disclaimer: I am a UFC fan first and foremost. I find UFC fights to mostly be more competitive and professional than Bellator fights. I watch Bellator when there are gaps in UFC programming. I'm not some "Bellator hipster" or "Spike Zombie", as one forum poster, Joben likes to rant on about. I never preach that Bellator is better than UFC. Nor have I met anyone who has for that matter.

Why would Bellator 122 be worth watching? The fights? No, perhaps the best reason to watch Bellator 122 would be to see how Scott Coker may change the company. Joben writes that Coker may rebrand Bellator. Giving it not just a new name but also better production values. Coker might or might not even announce a PPV. Let's hope Bellator decides to give up on the PPV. One of the best things about Bellator is that it's on free (cable subscription) TV.

So, are the fights any good? Actually, they're not that bad. There are some exciting fights on the card. Take a look at the review of the fights below or just skip to the poll if you're uninterested.

Liam McGreary vs. Egidijus Valavicius

Liam McGeary is an explosive prospect out of the UK. He is undefeated and all 7 of his wins are by way of KO or submission.

Egidijus Valavicius is a journeyman fighter out of Lithuania. He's a tough striker with a 27-10 record. With over 37 fights, to McGeary's 7, Valavicius has more than three times the experience of McGreary. Valavicius is a good test to see if McGreary is the explosive prospect some believe him to be (Dirtybird2).

Phil Baroni vs. Karo Parisyan

I guess this would be a great fight in the UFC if the year was 2005. Let's face it, both these guys are past their primes. Baroni vs. Parisyan almost sounds like a punchline to a bad joke. Still, I wouldn't count this out as an exciting fight. Both men have been in some great bouts. Maybe this bout will surprise the skeptics.

Adam Mcdonough vs. Andrei Koreshkov

This fight should be the main event.

Adam McDonough is undefeated at 11-0 with 3 submission wins and 6 KOs. McDonough has victories over notable fighters Nathan Coy and Jesse Juarez.

Andrei Koreshkov's sole loss came to Ben Askren. A fight where he was brutally outwrestled. Koreshkov has brutal striking as a result of being a training partner of Middle Weight Champ Alexander Shlemenko. Koreshkov's highlight reel KOs of Nashon Burrel and Marius Zaromskis are impressive.

This fight could go either way. Although, McDonough does not have a wrestling to outgrapple Koreshkov like Askren did. Both fighters are explosive welterweights. This has "fight of the night" written all over it.

Brett Cooper vs. Brandon Halsey

Brett Cooper had a great, back and forth fight with Kendall Grove last time he stepped into the Bellator cage. He weathered an early storm to come back and plaster Grove with his fists. Cooper has a record of 20-9.

Brandon Halsey is 6-0.

Not much to say here. Both fighters are skilled but Cooper has nearly five times more experience than Halsey. Expect Cooper to use his experience, heart and endurance to weather an early storm to take this fight. As you can tell, I'm not really excited about this one.

There it is. Vote below. Comment. What do you want to see changed in Bellator?
