UFC on FOX 12: Lawler vs. Brown took place July 26, 2014 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Up-and-coming welterweight contender Dennis Bermudez (13-3) put his six-fight win streak on the line against veteran Clay Guida (31-14) in a main card match, which aired live on FOX. Round 1: The referee in charge of the action is John McCarthy. Both fighters open orthodox and Bermudez scores with a body kick. Guida scores with a hard right hook. Bermudez responds with a hard outside leg kick. Guida attempts a single leg, but can't get it. He's still pressing the action against the fence, but now he's reversed. Bermudez lands with a knee to the body and right hook. Guida attempts another double, but it goes nowhere. Bermudez going after Guida now, landing hard hooks that bloodies the UFC veteran. After a brief scramble, both fighters escape, but it's Bermudez who begins to pour it on. He clinches with Guida and is ragdolling Guida, driving knees to his body and head. Bermudez presses Guida against the fence and gets behind him for the back, but fails on a rear naked choke attempt.

Round 2: Bermudez charges forward, but eats a right hand for his efforts. Guida tries to use the opportunity to scores his own takedown, but Bermudez's sprawl is too heavy. Bermudez eats another right, but it's not too heavy. Bermudez with another knee on the clinch break. Guida lands clean with the right again, but Bermudez is unfazed and responds with a right of his own. Bermudez gets Guida down with double underhooks and takes the back. In a snatch from his base, Bermudez scores the rear naked choke finish.
