UFC Fight Night 46 live blog: Brad Pickett vs. Ian McCall

This is the UFC Fight Night 46 live blog for Brad Pickett vs. Ian McCall, a lightweight bout at Saturday's UFC event at the 02 Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Pickett, who has won three of his past five fights, will face McCall, who is 2-2-1 over his last five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Neal Hall is the referee. Both fighters open orthodox. McCall strikes first with an inside leg kick and a hard outside leg kick, but dodges a heavy left hook counter from Pickett. They clinch and McCall lands a knee to the head of Pickett. The Brit is still pressing him into the fence and level changes for a takedown, but strikes McCall's groin, temporarily halting the bout. In a scramble, McCall nearly takes down Pickett from an ankle pick, but can't even after pressing McCall into the fence. McCall dodging in, landing a short punch and getting out before any other offense can be landed. Pickett corners McCall and presses him into the fence, but can't get anything going. Hard uppercut from Pickett finds the mark. Both fighters trading hooks, McCall getting the better of them, but Pickett scores with an uppercut. Close round.

Round 2: Pickett stalking and trying to pressure McCall into the fence. McCall times a Pickett right hand and and scores with a double leg, but Pickett pops up immediately. McCall dives into the clinch, gets double underhooks and trips Pickett to the mat. From leg drag, he hops immediately into mount. Pickett eventually bridges and rolls and they stand. Pickett reaches for a single, but McCall easily escapes. McCall's turn for a single leg and while Pickett falls backwards, McCall doesn't follow. Hard body kick scores twice now for McCall. Inadvertent groin kick from McCall temporarily halts the action. Pickett in on a takedown, but McCall stuffs it, however, he eats a left hook for his effort. Pickett attempts two more takedowns, none of which go anywhere.

Round 3: Hard body kick from McCall, but it's Pickett doing all of the forward pressure. Both fighters throwing in tight quarters, but not landing much. Pickett finally gets McCall against the fence and can't do it. McCall lands a body kick and can't follow up with the takedown. Pickett tries a trip and it works for just a second before McCall stands. McCall lands a hard right hand  and follows it up with a double leg takedown. McCall does a hop pass to side, then moves to mount. Pickett gets to a hip, then elbow and uses that to raise his base and stand, but the contest ends there.
