A bantamweight clash has been added to the UFC Fight Night card in Cincinnati.
According to sources close to the situation, Eddie Wineland returns to the Octagon in a 135-pound fight with Brazilian veteran Johnny Eduardo on May 10 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Graciemag first reported the match-up as a possibility for a future UFC card.
Fresh off a TKO victory over Yves Jabouin at UFC on FOX 10, Wineland (21-9-1) enters the bout looking for a second straight win since coming up short in a title fight with Renan Barao in Toronto, Canada, in 2013.
Eduardo (26-9), who hasn’t fought since a unanimous decision victory over Jeff Curran at UFC on Fuel TV 3 in 2012, returns to the Octagon after a 726-day span. The former Shooto South American champion is 1-1 under the UFC banner with a loss to Raphael Assuncao in 2011.
The current fight card for UFC’s return to Cincinnati is the following:
Eddie Wineland vs. Johnny Eduardo
Justin Salas vs. Ben Wall
Ed Herman vs. Rafael Natal
Soa Palelei vs. Ruan Potts
Nik Lentz vs. Manny Gamburyan
Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Darrell Montague
