Bellator cuts ties to Joe Vedepo after alleged assault of police officer

Bellator has cut all ties to fighter Joe Vedepo following the veteran light heavyweight's recent legal trouble in Iowa.

The 31-year old was arrested in Iowa City on Nov. 28 after an alleged drunken brawl which left a police officer hospitalized.

Vedepo, who lost to "King Mo" Lawal at Bellator 131, competed under a one-fight deal with company options to extend the contract. Thursday, reported that Bellator has chose to part ways with the fighter. confirmed the report with a Bellator representative.

Vedepo was charged with five misdemeanors in the wake of the incident.

The 31-year-old Vedepo is 4-3 in seven Bellator fights. He also went 0-2 in a UFC stint in 2008-09.
