UFC on FOX 13 live blog: Rafael dos Anjos vs. Nate Diaz

This is the UFC on FOX 13 live blog for Rafael dos Anjos vs. Nate Diaz, a catchweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix on Saturday night

dos Anjos, who has won four of his past five fights, will face Diaz, who also has won three of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: JAson Herzog is the ref. Diaz circling from center. Dos Anjos moves, both in southpaw stance. Dos Anjos changing levels threatening to come in low, but instead he buckles down and throws in the middle, and follows up with a body kick. Exchange at center, and Diaz connects with a right. Another exchange, and Dos Anjos once again kicks the lead leg of Diaz...and again. Nice left hook there from Dos Anjos lands. Diaz absorbing the kicks to the front leg, but starting to counter, and hits him with a one-two. Another monster leg kick, and Diaz wobbles. Dos Anjos is straight-up attacking that leg. They are audible, full-force kicks. He does it again. Diaz circles out, and they exchange at center. Knee from Dos Anjos. Now Dos Anjos goes to work on the other leg. A couple of times when Dos Anjos goes for the leg kick, he eats a punch. Diaz goes to the ground, more voluntarily than by force, and now Dos Anjos moves into half guard. Dos Anjos landing shots as Diaz tries to get up. Now Diaz trying for a heel hook, can't get it. Back into guard. Now Dos Anjos swings around into a north south. He's controlling the ground, as the round ends. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Dos Anjos, 10-9.

Round 2: Leg kick to start off second. Diaz now takes a high kick to the chest, and rolls out. Dos Anjos is throwing legs with fury. Diaz having trouble standing. Another and another. Diaz waves some punches at him, but can't do much with them. He is clearly having his legs kicked out from under him. Now Diaz comes forward and lands a couple of good shots to Dos Anjos' head. They exchange on the fence, and Dos Anjos dumps Diaz to the canvas and goes to work from side guard. Might be better for Diaz to operate on the ground at this point. He's trying to roll out, but can't. Dos Anjos is posturing and dropping shots. Diaz now bleeding over left eye rather profusely. Big left hand from Dos Anjos. Diaz scrambles to his feet, but Dos Anjos grabs his back and drags him back down. All Dos Anjos. Repeat. Diaz trying desperately to get up. He does, and he gets kicked twice in the legs. Now Diaz is picking up his lead leg in trepidation. Herzog stops action to check Diaz's cut. It was big left hand that opened the cut. Doctor says he's okay, and we resume. Body kick from Dos Anjos. Diaz with the jab, but he gets kicked again low to the leg. He is clearly limping. Dos Anjos now moves in and tries to lower the boom up top, but Diaz able to keep his head moving. Wow! Dos Anjos with a kick that drops Diax, and now with seconds left he gets side control and lands a parting shot. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Dos Anjos, 10-9 (20-18 overall)

Round 3: Doctor looked at Diaz's leg between rounds. He's good to go, they say, and Dos Anjos comes in and lands a leg kick. Now Diaz tries to kick Dos Anjos; wow, what a tough dude. Dos Anjos quickly takes Diaz to the ground and goes into his guard. There he goes to work, right at the center of the Octagon, trying to create an opening from which to punish Diaz. Big shots when he gets space. Bruises and welts all over Diaz's thighs, as blood streams down his face. This is a one-sided beatdown. More ground and pound. Big elbows from Dos Anjos. He postures up, stand, and then drops down again with more haymakers. The fight has become monotonous, but Dos Anjos is still landing shots. Hammerfists. Diaz countering best he can off his back with little punches to Dos Anjos' temples. Now Diaz is slapping Dos Anjos, and Dos Anjos is slapping him back. It ends with Dos Anjos on the top, dominating Diaz. MMA Fighting scores R3 for Dos Anjos, 10-9 (30-27 overall).
