Round 1: John McCarthy is the third man. Big spot for Ellenberger here. Could slip from the ranks. Gastelum with a chance to solidify himself as a force. Ellenberger quick to center, but it's Gastelum that opens up first with a combination. He comes lunging forward with a jab, too. He's the early aggressor. Ellenberger with a hook that lands, and straight left from Gastelum. Ellenberger comes in and lands a couple of big shots, a right hook that hits crisp to the jaw. Gastelum circles, and he wings a right jab, but Ellenberger holding his ground looking for an opening. Superman punch from Gastelum lands, and he eats a counter in the process — but now Gastelum shoots in for a takedown, and gets it. Ellenberger on his back, and Gastelum throwing left hands, which are landing. In Ellenberger's guard, the Juggernaut holds him close. Rare to see Ellenberger on his back like this. But now Gastelum raining elbows down; they are mostly landing into Jake's forearms. Ellenberger able to get back up, and they exchange. Gastelum shoots in again, and Ellenberger fends as he slides back to the fence. Short elbow from Ellenberger, but Gastelum is bullying forward on the fence. Ellenberger throws Gastelum and they scramble, with Gastelum grabbing Ellenberger's neck. He has the rear naked choke! It takes only a moment before Ellenberger taps! It was all very sudden out of the scramble. Ellenberger got the takedown, then rolled in the scramble and immediately got his back. It was academic from there. Tap came seconds later.
