Welcome to episode 108 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat.

When it rains, it pours.

After a two-week hiatus, the UFC returns this week with UFC 179, an event headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.

The big news at the moment, however, is that UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has injured himself yet again and has been removed from the UFC 180 fight card in Mexico. As a replacement, Mark Hunt steps in and will face Fabricio Werdum for the interim UFC heavyweight title.

While a fun turnaround for Hunt's career, this is a seriously damaging blow for the UFC's push into Mexico. It's also the ninth pay-per-view headliner the UFC has lost in 2014 due to injury.

There's also the interesting issue of Cung Le's punishment being rescinded before arbitration. Why the UFC elected to do that is unclear, but they did and Le comes out looking like a huge winner. It should be noted, however, that what Le proved was that he wasn't given a fair process, not that he never used HGH.
