Fresh off his August victory over Gray Maynard, Ross Pearson knows who his next opponent will be: Al Iaquinta.
UFC Australia announced on Thursday the two lightweights will square off in the co-main event at UFC Fight Night 55 in Sydney.
The English fighter Pearson is coming off an emphatic second-round victory over Gray Maynard at UFC Fight Night 47 in Bangor, Maine. Pearson was supposed to have met Abel Trujillo at the event, but after Trujillo had to withdraw with an injury was re-slotted in the co-main event against the former No. 1 contender, Maynard. Before then he lost a controversial split decision against Diego Sanchez in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After winning The Ultimate Fighter 9: United States vs. United Kingdom, Pearson has put together a an 8-4-(1) record in the UFC.
Iaquinta, meanwhile, is coming off a third-round TKO victory over Rodrigo Damm at UFC Fight Night 50 in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The 27-year old Serra-Longo fighter has won four of his last five fights and is 5-2 in the UFC overall.
UFC Fight Night 55 takes place at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Nov. 7 in North America (Nov. 8 in Australia). The card will feature a middleweight bout between Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold in the main event.
