Wilson Reis will now face Ivan Menjivar at UFC 165

Just a week after seeing his fight against Hugo Viana at UFC Fight Night 28 cancelled due to Viana’s injury, Wilson Reis will replace Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto at UFC 165 against Ivan Menjivar on Sept. 21.

UFC announced the change Tuesday.

Menjivar, a 31-year-old Salvadoran mixed martial artist, returns to the cage looking to bounce back from a submission loss to Urijah Faber at UFC 157. Menjivar holds a 4-2 record under the UFC banner with two victories that earned him "submission of the night" bonuses.

Reis, the first and only EliteXC bantamweight champion, signed with Bellator in 2009 and lost three times in the featherweight semifinals. He ended up being released from the promotion after a loss to current bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas. Reis enters the Octagon riding a four-fight winning streak since he was cut by Bellator, including three submissions.
