The UFC's 20th anniversary is filling up fast, as a pair of match-ups, bantamweights Erik Perez vs. Edwin Figueroa and middleweights Rafael Natal vs. Ed Herman, are the latest additions to UFC 167.
UFC officials announced the pairings on Monday.
For both Perez (13-5) and Figueroa (9-3), the goal is to get back into the win column after falling short in their most recent contents.
Initially pinned as one of the 135-pound division's most promising prospects, Perez dropped a hard-fought split decision to Takeya Mizugaki last month at UFC Fight Night 27. The setback marked the 23-year-old Mexican's first fight since recovering from a life-threatening staph infection, and snapped his streak of three consecutive first-round victories.
Figueroa, on the other hand, may be fighting for his job after losing two straight in 2013 against Francisco Rivera and Roland Delorme, and three of five in the UFC overall.
Meanwhile, Natal (17-4-1) looks to extend his impressive streak of three straight victories, the last of which was punctuated by an electric ‘Fight of the Night' decision over Tor Troeng in his native Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
In doing so he'll face Herman (21-9, 1 NC), a 14-fight UFC veteran who recently rebounded from an ill-fated Strikeforce excursion to capture a split decision ‘Fight of the Night' victory over Trevor Smith.
UFC 167 takes place November 16, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. An updated fight card can be seen below.
