In his short-notice UFC 161 bout against Stipe Miocic on Saturday night, Roy "Big Country" Nelson looked, well, like a plus-sized individual who took a fight on short notice.

And one who may have underestimated his opponent, to boot.

Nelson gassed early in his heavyweight bout with the once-beaten Miocic and wound up as target practice in a unanimous decision loss. All three judges at Winnipeg's MTS Centre scored the bout 30-27 in favor of Miocic.

Miocic, who landed 137 significant strikes, peppered Nelson with punches and knees throughout the first two rounds. In the third, he slowed the pace as he he managed to keep away from Nelson's attempts to land a home run of a finish. Only Nelson's ridiculously strong chin was able to save him from being finished by Miocic.

"He's never been dropped, seriously," said Miocic after the biggest win of his career. "That's all you need to know. I feel fantastic, I want to go hang out with my family and friends.

Miocic improved to 10-1, shaking off his loss to Stefan Struve in his last fight. Nelson (26-8), who last fought six weeks ago, had a three-fight win streak snapped.
