Round 1: Marc Goddard is the main-event referee. Stann moves forward in the early going, with Silva circling to the outside. Stann rushes in, but Silva clips Stann and drops him. Stann stands, Silva lands a knee. Silva catches him again. They clinch. Stann's nose is cut. Stann throws a two-punch combo, Silva answers with a counter and smiles. The two play rock 'em sock 'em robots for awhile, neither guy getting the best of it. Stann rushes in again and this time lands an accidental low blow. He appeared to be going for a knee and the foot hit Silva in the groin. They pause for about a minute. We're back to action. Silva with a jab. Stann with a low kick and Silva responds with a big right hand. The frenetic early pace has slowed. An absolutely wild sequence sees both guys drop each other with punches. Can't even begin to break it down blow for blow, but there was a lot of wild swinging and a lot of them landed. It ends on the ground with Stann in Silva's guard. Something opened Stann up during that flurry, he's cut on the bridge of his nose and is bleeding all over Silva. What a crazy round to even try to score. But since I have to pick one ... MMAFighting scores the round for Wanderlei Silva, 10-9.
Round 2: Slower start, but you're just waiting for the next wild flurry. Stann's nose is bleeding again. Stann lands an outside leg kick. Another Stann kick lands low. Goddard gives Stann a talking-to. Back to action. Midway through the round. Silva connects with a right and a left. Stann lands a big right hand. No way they could maintain the pace from round one. Both guys picking their spots. One minute left. Silva drops Stann with a huge right to the jaw, a left to the jaw, Stann hits the mat, and it's all over. Another memorable win for Wanderlei Silva in the arena which made him famous.
Wanderlei Silva def. Brian Stann via KO at 4:08 of round two.
