Julie Kedzie is a pioneer in the sport of women's MMA. Unfortunately, though, her career appears to have peaked just before WMMA hit the mainstream.
Kedzie suffered her fourth consecutive loss at UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia. Brazilian Bethe Correia took a split decision in their bantamweight bout, taking two of three 29-28 scores.

Both fighters were active in round one, which was contested almost entirely standing. Correia landed the heavier shots, though, including a pair of big left hooks. Round two was more of the same, with the volume of striking turned up a notch. Once again, though, Correia landed more often.
Greg Jackson told Kedzie after round two that she was up 2-0 on the scorecards, which was questionable, but either way, Kedzie noticeably had extra spring in her step in round three. Still, Correia appeared to get the best of it, including a trip and an attempt to move into position for a submission.
The 30-year-old Correia, who was making her UFC debut, improved to 7-0, with six decision wins. Kedzie dropped to 16-13 and 0-2 in the UFC.
