UFC 168 results: Jim Miller submits Fabricio Camoes via armbar in the first

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

In a battle of jiu-jitu black belts, it was the American who came out on 'top', as lightweight Jim Miller armbarred Fabricio Camoes in the first round of their main card bout at UFC 168.

Miller, the southpaw, had issues with Camoes' left hook early on as he was tagged both at the beginning and ending of combinations. However, he was able to land an inside elbow as the two exchanged and Camoes closed the distance. Miller first scored his own takedown off of a caught kick, but Camoes was able to reverse him and establish top position.

Just as Camoes was battering Miller on top, however, Miller turned underneath and framed an ultra-tight armbar. Camoes couldn't stand as Miller blocked it by underhooking his leg. Camoes, with nowhere to go, lost control of his own grip and couldn't regain it. He tapped quickly thereafter.

The end came officially at 3:42 of the first round.

In his post-fight interview with commentator Joe Rogan, Miller said he wanted to be more of a technician and no longer a reckless fighter. "You've seen Mr. Hyde," Miller said, "but I tried to bring Dr. Jekyll out tonight, and he's a killer, too."

Miller's record climbs to 23-4 and 1 no-contest while Camoes drops to 14-8-1.
