Go ahead and enter Demetrious Johnson's name into ‘Fighter of the Year' discussion. After taking a hard fought split decision from Joseph Benavidez in September 2012, Johnson skipped the pleasantries and shaved 23 minutes off his personal best the second time around, knocking Benavidez out cold with a spectacular first-round KO to cap off Saturday night's UFC on FOX 9 card in Sacramento, CA.
Just because this sport is so ridiculously unpredictable, the unlikely finish marked Johnson's first knockout win since his pre-WEC days in 2010. "Mighty Mouse" has now defended his UFC flyweight title three straight times, improving leaps and bounds every time out, with each performance coming to the tune of millions of viewers on national television. Not bad for a guy who just started training full-time two years ago.
