Round 1: Mario Yamasaki is the third man. Markes comes in with an inside kick right off the bat, which stung. Tries it again and whiffs. Romero with a straight push kick is blocked. Romero looking to land that left. Markes actually gets Romero down for a moment, but Romero right back up. Now Romero lands a left hand after deking with an uppercut. Romero comes in high with a kick and slips to the canvas. Markes tries to punish the mistake but can't. Markes ties up Romero, and eats an elbow, but gets the takedown. Markes trying to improve his position, and looking to work a Kimura. Can't secure it, and Romero spins back to his feet. Both guys trade up punches, and the patty-cake from opposite stances continues. Big body kick by Markes. Romero just keeps chugging forward, and finally tries for a takedown of his own but is thwarted. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Markes, 10-9.

Round 2: Markes tries a high kick off the bat, and missed. Romero plods forward with his hydrant physique. He grabs Markes' neck and pulls him into a short elbow, which glances off of top of Markes' head. Romero now working that left, and finding a home a little bit. Markes doing a good job of staying out of Romero's wheelhouse, yet landing steadily with the left jab. Romero has Markes down, but opts to let him back up. Neither guy is what you'd call agile; both are standing pretty still. Markes particularly. Good body kick there from Romero sends Markes to the canvas, but once again Romero -- a picture of poise -- very casually stands over him without pursuit. Then he lets him up. Markes returns fire with a body kick of his own, but it didn't land flush. Markes comes in with a flying knee which lands, and Romero throws his hands straight up to show he's okay. Now the volume is being cranked up. Markes is swinging for the fences, and Romero very coolly returning fire on the feet. Good action there late in the third. Markes with a stiff right hand late. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Romero, 10-9 (19-19 overall)

Round 3: Markes comes out swinging, and lands a couple of shots at center. Romero moves forward, and Yamasaki says hold up, as it looks like Markes got poked in the eye. They are right back at it. Now Romero stalks forward throwing big left bombs, and at least one of them crashes into Markes to wobble him. But he's fine. Romero changing things up, lands a left to the body. Then boom! A huge straight left hand floors Markes. And he comes in while the stunned Markes was laying looking at the lights and put a powerful hammerfist on him to finish the job. It's over! Romero just went into his puncher's motion like a pitcher and threw that left hand, and it knocked Markes silly.
