Alexander Gustafsson has a new opponent for his Octagon return.
Five days after MMAFighting.com broke the news that Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was forced to cancel his light-heavyweight showdown with Gustafsson on March 8 due to an injury, UFC officials announced that undefeated Jimi Manuwa will replace the Pride veteran.
Gustafsson vs. Manuwa takes place at the O2 Arena in London, England. The main card of that event will air on Fox Sports 2.
Manuwa (14-0) last fought 10 days ago, at Manchester’s UFC Fight Night 30, and stopped Ryan Jimmo in the second round. In fact, the Nigerian-English light-heavyweight has finished all the opponents he has ever faced in MMA, including his three UFC bouts.
Gustafsson (15-2) returns to the cage after a close decision loss to light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 165. Before that loss, the Swedish contender racked up victories over MMA veterans like Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Thiago Silva, Matt Hamill and Vladimir Matyushenko.
The UFC Fight Night where this bout will headline has yet to be numbered as of the time of this writing.
