Lance Palmer meets Georgi Karakhanyan for inaugural WSOF featherweight title in December

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting
An undefeated Team Alpha Male prospect will fight for the inaugural World Series of Fighting featherweight title next month.

Lance Palmer (7-0) has replaced Rick Glenn against Georgi Karakhanyan (22-3-1) at WSOF 7 on Dec. 7 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, according to WSOF president Ray Sefo and executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz. Glenn pulled out of the fight due to family reasons. The five-round title fight will serve as the co-main event of a card headlined by Anthony Johnson vs. Mike Kyle.

Palmer, a former four-time All-American wrestler at Ohio State University, recently defeated Jared Downing in August to become the Resurrection Fighting Alliance 145-pound champion. He made his MMA debut in May 2011 and is considered one of the best featherweight prospects in the sport.

Karakhanyan, another rising star, has won eight in a row since his release from Bellator in 2011. "Insane" defeated Waylon Lowe via first-round guillotine choke in his WSOF debut in September.

WSOF 7 will take place at the PNE Agrodome and will air live on NBCSN.
