UFC on FOX 6 bonuses: Flyweights take Fight of the Night

Esther Lin

Regardless what you thought of the decision in Demetrious Johnson's successful defense of his UFC flyweight title against John Dodson on Saturday night, the two fighters put to rest the already flawed idea that 125-pound fighters are boring.

The UFC clearly agreed, as the company rewarded the competitors with UFC on FOX 6 Fight of the Night honors for their 25-minute, back-and-forth battle. Both fighters receive an extra $50,000 for their efforts at the United Center in Chicago.

They weren't the only ones to leave Chicago $50K richer. Anthony Pettis received knockout of the night honors for his vicious first-round finish over Donald Cerrone; and light heavyweight Ryan Bader's swift guillotine of veteran Vladimir Matyushenko earned him submission of the night honors.

The UFC also announced a crowd of 16,091, paying $1.27 million. The numbers were close to UFC on FOX 2, held in the same building last January, which drew a crowd of 16,963 and $1,270,960.
