It was a typical Leonard Garcia fight. Wild, close, and controversial.
In the end though, two of the three judges saw it the way of his opponent, Max Holloway, who was given a split decision win by scores of 29-28, 29-28, 28-29.
Holloway likely won a close first in the UFC 155 prelim bout, rocking Garcia and dropping him with a big right hand, but though he looked for a finish, he couldn't close it out and pulled back. From then on, Garcia worked to remake the fight in his image, turning it into a brawl.

He seemed to gain momentum as the fight went on, and as Holloway wore down. He scored a pair of takedowns in the fight, but he did spend a lot of time as he normally does swinging and missing. While Holloway landed his sharper combinations, Garcia would occasionally land a haymaker, and rattled Holloway on more than one occasion.
The loss was the fourth straight for Garcia, who fell to 15-10-1. He has fought to split decisions in five of his last 10 fights, with a sixth ruled a split draw.
Holloway is now 7-1 after his third win of 2012.
