UFC on FX 6 Live Blog: Colin Fletcher vs. Norman Parke

This is the UFC on FX 6 live blog for Colin Fletcher vs. Norman Parke, a lightweight bout at Friday night's UFC event at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia.

Parke and Fletcher will be competing in the The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes lightweight finals on the main card.

Round 1: Referee John Sharp oversees the action. Parke ducks under a straight punch and clinches, bullying Fletcher up against the fence. Parke works diligently for a takedown and briefly gets it before Fletcher stands. Parke rips out a leg and trips Fletcher back down to the mat, landing in half guard. Fletcher working for a kimura from the bottom, but Parke doing a good job controlling the position and staying out of trouble. Parke rains down a few short elbows. Parke advances to side mount, then north-south. Parke back to side mount, pinning Fletcher's right arm with his leg. Fletcher squirms and scrambles out, winding up on top in side control. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Parke.

Round 2: Fletcher opens aggressively with kicks. Parke rushes in and trips Fletcher to the mat. Fletcher spins off the fence and after a brief scramble, Parke ends up on top with a deep guillotine attempt. Fletcher defends but Parke advances to a high mount in the process. Fletcher spins and Parke takes his back, sinking in a body triangle. Parke hunting for a rear-naked choke. Dangerous spot for Fletcher, but he somehow squirms his way out and retakes the feet. Fletcher nearly eats a big left hand. Fletcher finally connects with a pair of low kicks, Parke answers with a solid combination. Parke finding a home for his jab. Ten seconds left and Parke powers his way into another takedown. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Parke.

Round 3: Fletcher ducks under a wild right hand. Fletcher misses a sloppy spinning backfist and stumbles, but Parke can't take advantage. Parke finding his range now, unloading combinations with reckless abandon. Fletcher connects with a right hand counter. Fletcher avoids a flurry and Parke throws out his hands as if to say, 'Come on.' Parke rushes in with a straight right. Fletcher responds with a combination. Parke throwing wildly but nothing is landing. Parke dodges a punch and seizes Fletcher's back, dragging him to the mat. Fletcher climbs back up but he is exhausted. Parke separates and the pair trade one final flurry as the horn sounds. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Parke.
