UFC on FOX 5 medical suspensions: B.J. Penn, Nate Diaz receive indefinite suspensions

Former UFC champion B.J. Penn and 10 others received extended medical suspensions in the aftermath of UFC on FOX 5, the Washington State Department of Licensing confirmed to MMAFighting.com on Wednesday.

Main card fighters Penn, Nate Diaz, and Alexander Gustafsson all face indefinite medical suspensions pending doctor's clearance for their performances on the network card. In the case of Gustafsson, the Swede's suspension could be extended by upwards of 180 days depending on a physician's evaluation.

Undercard fighters Jeremy Stephens, Raphael Assuncao, Ramsey Nijem. Joe Proctor, Henry Martinez and Nam Phan also earned indefinite suspensions. With the exception of Assuncao and Nijem, each man endured significant damage in a losing effort.

The remaining fighters on the card, including UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson, received minimal suspensions for precautionary reasons.

Benson Henderson: 7 days
Nate Diaz: 45 days, with 30 days no contact; indefinite medical suspension until cleared by doctor, with possible extension of original suspension to 60 days and clearance by ENT
Alexander Gustafsson: 30 days minimum, indefinite medical suspension until cleared by doctor or 180 days suspension
Mauricio Rua: 30 days
Rory MacDonald: 7 days
B.J. Penn: 45 days, with 30 days no contact; indefinite medical suspension until cleared by doctor
Matt Brown: 7 days
Mike Swick: 60 days
Yves Edwards: 30 days, with 21 days no contact
Jeremy Stephens: 60 days; indefinite medical suspension until cleared by doctor
Raphael Assuncao: 7 days; indefinite medical suspension until cleared by Orthopedic Surgeon
Mike Easton: 7 days
Ramsey Nijem: 30 days; indefinite medical suspension until cleared by doctor
Joe Proctor: 60 days; indefinite medical suspension with no contact until cleared by ENT
Daron Cruickshank: 7 days
Henry Martinez: 60 days; indefinite medical suspension until cleared by doctor
Abel Trujillo: 7 days
Marcus LeVesseur: 30 days
