UFC 133 Live Blog: Rory MacDonald vs. Mike Pyle Updates

Pyle (21-7-1) has won three straight fights, beating Jesse Lennox, John Hathaway and Ricardo Almeida. MacDonald (11-1) defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 129 in April.

Pyle walked out to the "Rocky" theme, MacDonald to MC Hammer's "You Can't Touch This." Which by the way, is one year older than MacDonald himself. Song released in 1990, MacDonald born in 1989.

Round 1: MacDonald shrugs off an early takedown try. MacDonald drops Pyle early but lets him up. Pyle drives in for a takedown. MacDonald tries a guillotine but lets it go. MacDonald back to his feet quickly. Pyle works him against the fence and drags him down again. MacDonald works free once again. MacDonald hurts him with a right. He looks for a standing choke and Pyle works free and drops to his back. MacDonald resists but then jumps into his guard. MacDonald backs out and kicks at Pyle's legs, then dives back in. Heavy ground and pound from MacDonald. Hard elbows. MacDonald is a savage. He crushes Pyle with punches and elbows for the finish.

Winner: Rory MacDonald via TKO, Rd. 1 (3:54)

This was a star-making performance from MacDonald, who has been considered a phenom since day one. A mature and measured yet aggressive performance. The kid is shy and soft-spoken in life, yet a stone-cold killer in the cage.
