UFC 131 Live Blog: Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha Updates

, a lightweight bout on tonight's UFC pay-per-view at the Rogers Arena.

Cerrone (14-3) won his UFC debut in February by submitting Paul Kelly with a rear-naked choke. Rocha (6-1) is making his UFC debut as a replacement for the injured Mac Danzig.

Round 1: We make it about ten seconds in before an accidental kick to the groin by Cerrone. Rocha takes only a brief break, then we're back. Cerrone tries a knee to the body and Rocha uses it to get the takedown. Cerrone goes right to the triangle, then transitions to an oma plata, but Rocha is out and throwing down leather from the top. Cerrone gets back to his feet quickly and avoids the follow-up takedown attempt. His leg kicks look sharp, but he seems wary of the takedown off them now. Cerrone whips a kick past Rocha's nose, and Rocha dives for a takedown that Cerrone avoids. More kicks to Rocha's left leg. He tries a kick of his own, but Cerrone catches it and kicks his other leg out from under him. Rocha's left leg already looks red. Cerrone digs at it some more in the final minute, then counters a Rocha leg kick with a nice jab to end the round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Cerrone.

Round 2: Cerrone goes right back to work on that leg of Rocha's, then mixes it up with a right high kick. Rocha gets in close and tries to brawl a little, but we know Cerrone has no problem with that. Rocha dives low for the takedown and trips Cerrone up, but can't put him on his back. Rocha keeps after it, but Cerrone extricates himself. Cerrone hammers the leg again and Rocha does a slow spin. Rocha with a nice straight right, and Cerrone's left eye is swelling up. Rocha throws a kick of his own and again Cerrone counters perfectly with a punch that snaps his head back. More leg kicks by Cerrone, and the crowd is groaning in sympathy. Rocha loses his legs for a moment and tried to convince Cerrone to come play on the mat, but Cerrone gives him the Dikembe Mutumbo finger wag. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Cerrone.

Round 3: If Rocha was hoping that Cerrone might forget about his leg, those hopes are quickly dashed in the opening seconds of the final frame. Cerrone tries a right high kick that's blocked, then easily stuffs a Rocha takedown. Cerrone has Rocha worried about the kick now, and the slightest feint gets a reaction out of him. Rocha tries another failed takedown. Cerrone catches a Rocha kick and Rocha slaps him with an open hand before Cerrone kicks his free leg out from under him again. Rocha is doing his best to avoid standing in front of Cerrone, even jogging away from him at one point. The crowd lets him have it, but his legs just aren't there any more. Cerrone smells blood and goes after him. A straight left from Cerrone and Rocha does a little hop onto his back. He motions Rocha up, and Rocha begrudgingly obliges. Cerrone sneaks in one more leg kick before the horn. Rocha just shakes his head and sits down on the mat.
