UFC 131 Live Blog: Sam Stout vs. Yves Edwards Updates

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – This is the UFC 131 live blog for Sam Stout vs. Yves Edwards, a lightweight bout on tonight's Spike TV portion of the card from the Rogers Arena.

Stout (16-6-1) won his last fight against Paul Taylor via split decision at UFC 121 last October. In his UFC return, Edwards (40-16-1) has picked up wins over John Gunderson and Cody McKenzie.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: They touch gloves to start things off, then go right to work in the center of the cage. Edwards ducks under a punch and comes back with a straight shot that jacks Stout's head back. Seconds later, Stout's already showing swelling under his left eye. Stout tries a high kick and Edwards comes back with a better one that backs him up. Edwards grabs a single-leg and pulls Stout away from the fence before putting him on his back. Stout uses the open guard and attempts to tie up Edwards' arm. The crowd gets together on a chant for their man Stout, and he scrambles up to give them something to cheer about. Stout with a leg kick, and Edwards falls down off a head kick attempt. Edwards throws a right hook that lands, but Stout comes right over the top with a perfect left hook that snaps Edwards' jaw to the side. Edwards goes down hard, cracking the back of his head on the mat. He's out cold. Stout runs over and jumps up on the cage to celebrate with his camp.
