Chris Horodecki to Make Bellator Debut Later This Month

Former WEC and IFL lightweight veteran Chris Horodecki will make his Bellator debut on July 23 against Chris Saunders, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old native of Ontario will compete for the second straight time in his home province, as Bellator 47 takes place in Rama, Ontario.

Horodecki (17-3) is 1-0 since getting released from WEC after losing to Donald Cerrone at WEC 53 in December. "The Polish Hammer" defeated David Castillo via first-round submission at MMA: The Reckoning in April.

"Fighting for a promotion like Bellator in front of my friends and family is just a dream come true," Horodecki stated in a press release. "I had a great fight at Casino Rama back in April, and I'm just looking to build off that at Bellator 47."

Saunders (9-1) will enter the bout riding a seven-fight winning streak. Horodecki will undoubtedly be the most well-known opponent he's ever fought.

Bellator 47 will mark the organization's Canadian debut, and it will feature the semi-finals of the promotion's most recent featherweight tournament.
