Former WEC and IFL lightweight veteran Chris Horodecki will make his Bellator debut on July 23 against Chris Saunders, the organization announced on Wednesday.The 23-year-old native of Ontario will compete for the second straight time in his home province, as Bellator 47 takes place in Rama, Ontario.
Horodecki (17-3) is 1-0 since getting released from WEC after losing to Donald Cerrone at WEC 53 in December. "The Polish Hammer" defeated David Castillo via first-round submission at MMA: The Reckoning in April.
"Fighting for a promotion like Bellator in front of my friends and family is just a dream come true," Horodecki stated in a press release. "I had a great fight at Casino Rama back in April, and I'm just looking to build off that at Bellator 47."
Saunders (9-1) will enter the bout riding a seven-fight winning streak. Horodecki will undoubtedly be the most well-known opponent he's ever fought.
Bellator 47 will mark the organization's Canadian debut, and it will feature the semi-finals of the promotion's most recent featherweight tournament.
