Pier Cote beat Aris Ambriz by fourth-round TKO
Mike Alvarado vs. Ray Narh
Round 1: Fight gets off to a bit of a cautious start as both fighters take a little time feeling each other out. Alvarado is connecting a little bit more and I give the first round to Alvarado, 10-9.
Round 2: Narh lands a nice combination, while Alvarado reaches for a punch from the outside and misses. Alvarado is swinging like he's trying to land something hard but is mostly missing as Narh's reach advantage is giving Alvarado problems. Now Alvarado with a huge jab that backs Narh up and causes his knees to wobble. This fight is really starting to get going, with hard punches landed by both men. Narh seems like he's been hurt by Alvarado's punches, and I give the second round to Alvarado, 10-9.
Round 3: Alvarado is really starting to come on now, connecting with a hard right hand that Narh doesn't answer. We're starting to see that Alvarado is the superior fighter, he cruises to an easy round, Alvarado, 10-9.
After the third round, Narh said he had enough and quit on his stool. A bizarre ending, as Narh doesn't seem to be injured, but he has reportedly been ill today and he just looks like he doesn't want to fight anymore.
Result: Mike Alvarado defeated Ray Narh by TKO after the third round.
Kelly Pavlik vs. Alfonso Lopez
Round 1: This is Pavlik's first fight in more than a year. The 21-0 Lopez won't be an easy comeback opponent. Lopez lands a hard left hook early in the first round. Hard exchange where Pavlik lands a good left but Lopez lands a three-punch combination. Pavlik looks rusty. Pavlik hits Lopez in the back of the head, drawing boos, although the referee warned Lopez for turning around. I give the first round to Lopez, 10-9.
Round 2: Pavlik connects with a left, Lopez connects with a right. Pavlik is looking a little slow. Pavlik finally uses his jab to back Lopez into the corner. Nice combination from Lopez at the end of the round, I give the second to Lopez, 10-9.
Round 3: Pavlik comes out throwing his punches a little more crisply now, lands a right hand that shakes Lopez.Lopez dodges the jab and lands a left. A close third round that I'll give to Pavlik, 10-9.
Round 4: After the third round Pavlik's corner was getting on him to use the jab more. Instead Lopez got to the inside at the start of the fourth. Pavlik has a cut near his right eye from an accidental head butt. Lopez is trying to close the distance and avoid the jab, Pavlik is starting to land some harder leather. Pavlik lands a big right hand in close quarters. Lopez wants to fight on the inside but Pavlik is doing a nice job of connecting on short right hands. I give the round to Pavlik, 10-9.
Round 5: Lopez is back on the attack at the start of the fifth. Lopez is landing combinations and Pavlik seems a little slow in responding. Now Pavlik hits Lopez hard and backs him up on the ropes. Pavlik with a big left hook in the center of the ring. Lopez may have some problems with his cardiovascular conditioning; he seems like he's breathing heavily. I give the fifth to Pavlik, 10-9.
Round 6: Pavlik backs Lopez against the ropes, then goes to the body. Pavlik is finally looking like the Pavlik of old again. Pavlik is really working the body, and Lopez is starting to wince when Pavlik comes his way. Pavlik is really starting to put it all together, and I give the round to Pavlik, 10-9.
Round 7: Pavlik with a nice straight right and a left hook. Now Pavlik lands a low blow and gets warned about it by the referee. When the fight starts back up Lopez comes out with a good combination. Pavlik answers with a short left. This was a close round that I give to Pavlik, 10-9.
Round 8: Pavlik is continuing to land harder, more effective punches, as Lopez is continuing to fade. Lopez is going to have to do something dramatic here because Pavlik has taken complete control. Round 8 goes to Pavlik 10-9.
Round 9: Lopez comes out looking like he knows he's going to need to knock Pavlik out. Lopez lands some big combinations and now it's Pavlik who looks like he's growing frustrated. Pavlik lands a right hand but Lopez smiles and shakes his head to say it didn't hurt. Lopez with another nice combination. The ninth round has been one of the best rounds of the fight, with hard punches going both ways. I give the round to Lopez, 10-9.
Round 10: Although I think Pavlik is ahead on the scorecards, Pavlik's corner is concerned enough that they're telling him he needs to come out hard in the 10th and final round. Lopez is pouring it on now with a huge combination of punches that Pavlik didn't have an answer for. Pavlik with a big left hook that buckles Lopez. Now Pavlik with another left hand and Lopez is clearly hurt. Lopez comes back with another combination and Pavlik answers with another left hook. Now a straight right hand appears to hurt Lopez. Both guys are leaving it all in the ring and the crowd is responding. The fight ends with Pavlik landing another left hook and I give the 10th and final round to Pavlik, 10-9.
I scored the fight for Pavlik, 97-93. I'll tell you what the judges say in just a minute.

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. vs. Jorge Arce
Round 1: The final undercard fight is underway. Vazquez lands a right hand but then Arce lands a big lunging left hook. Arce is stalking Vazquez and swinging wildly. Arce appears to have hurt Vazquez and is trying to pour it on. Arce loves to turn the fight into a brawl and it worked for him in the first round, I give the first round to Arce, 10-9.
Round 2: Vazquez now starts the round on the attack and puts Arce in the corner. Arce lands a good right hook. Vazquez lands a couple hard punches of his own and Arce smiles and lands a left hook. Arce backs Vazquez up and keeps brawling, doing exactly what he wants to do. Round 2 goes to Arce, 10-9.
Round 3: The fight remains a brawl, which would seem to favor Arce, although Vazquez is starting to connect more now. This fight is a lot of fun, as Arce has thrown everything he has at Vazquez, and Vazquez is answering right back. I thought Vazquez was more effective in the third and I give it to Vazquez, 10-9.
Round 4: Vazquez may have weathered the Arce storm, as Arce looks a little slower now and Vazquez is landing some good counter punches. Arce has a cut on his nose from an accidental head butt. Arce lands a hard right but then Vazquez explodes with a huge left hook and DOWN GOES ARCE! The round ends with a big knockdown and I give the fourth round to Vazquez, 10-8.
Round 5: Arce continues swinging wildly and seems to have completely recovered from that knockdown at the end of the fourth. Vazquez backs Arce up against the ropes. Vazquez hurts Arce with another left hook. Arce comes back with a nice combination, ending it with a hard right hand that hurts Vazquez. A very close round that I give to Vazquez, 10-9.
Round 6: Arce now goes back to his brawling ways, throwing his punches more wildly. That style suits him, and he seems to be frustrating Vazquez. The sixth round was very close but at the very end Vazquez landed a hard left hand that may have been enough to steal the round. I give it to Vazquez, 10-9.
Round 7: Another intense round as this is one of the most fun fights of the year. I give this round to Arce, 10-9.
Round 8: Arce is doing a very nice job of getting Vazquez against the ropes and connecting to the body. There's no question that Arce is the more active fighter, but Vazquez's punches are landing with much more accuracy. Arce had a wild flurry at the end of the round and I'll give this one to Arce, 10-9.
Round 9: Between rounds the TV cameras caught Paris Hilton, but let's not let the celebrities distract from the fact that this has been one of the fights of the year. Arce is sticking and moving and lands a good right hand, Vazquez lands a left hook. They go near the ropes and Vazquez ends up falling into the ropes, but it's a slip and not a knockdown. Both guys seem like they might be slowing down a bit, and that's to the advantage of Vazquez, who's a more precise, technical boxer and less of a brawler. I give the ninth round to Vazquez, 10-9.
Round 10: Vazquez lands a nice hook followed by a hard uppercut. Vazquez falls to the ground but it's ruled a slip again. Arce is starting to do a lot of clinching, which suggests that he's getting tired. Arce lands a big left at the very end of the round that seems to hurt Vazquez, which might have been enough to steal the round, but I give it to Vazquez, 10-9.
Round 11: Arce backs Vazquez against the ropes and hits him hard. Now Arce is hitting Vazquez very hard against the ropes. Vazquez appears to be hurt and Arce is getting his second wind. Vazquez is using the ropes to hold himself up while Arce pounds away at him. Arce and Vazquez both fall into the ropes in another slip. Arce is really pouring it on now, and Vazquez is clearly hurt. A tremendous round for Arce, 10-9.
Round 12: Arce picks up right where he left off and has Vazquez in a lot of trouble with huge punches against the ropes! I don't know how Vazquez is staying up. Arce is battering him badly. And Vazquez's corner throws in the towel! Unbelievable ending! Vazquez's father, Wilfredo Vazquez Sr., threw in the towel to save his son from taking further punishment. A heartbreaking ending as Vazquez Jr. clearly does not agree with his father's decision to end the fight.
