Brian Bowles vs. Takeya Mizugaki Added to UFC 132 Lineup

Former WEC bantamweight champion Brian Bowles will look to continue his climb back towards a championship at UFC 132, when he takes on durable Japanese fighter Takeya Mizugaki.

The fight's booking was confirmed by the UFC late on Monday night.

In March, Bowles made his first start back after losing the title and recovering from hand and foot injuries. In that fight, he finished Damacio Page with a first-round technical submission via guillotine choke. The win, which came in his UFC debut, improved his record to 9-1.

Bowles (9-1) had won the belt in August 2009, knocking out long-reigning champ Miguel Torres in the first round.

The scrappy Mizugaki (14-5-2) has alternated wins and losses over his last seven bouts, going 4-3 in that time. Two of his losses have come to former champs Urijah Faber and Miguel Torres. In his most recent fight, he defeated Reuben Duran via split decision in March.

UFC 132 takes place on July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and will be headlined by a bantamweight championship main event pitting title-holder Dominick Cruz against challenger Urijah Faber in a grudge rematch four years in the making.
