UFC 127 Live Blog: George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver Updates

George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver is a fight on the main card of UFC 127.This is the UFC 127 live blog for George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver, a lightweight bout on tonight's UFC pay-per-view from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Sotiropoulos (14-2) has been unbeaten since April 2007 and is 7-0 in the UFC. Meanwhile, Siver will bring his spin kicks to UFC 127 coming off wins against Spencer Fisher and Andre Winner.

Siver enters to Papa Roach's "Last Resort." A very serious Sotiropoulos walks out to AC/DC's "T.N.T."

Round 1: Siver light on his feet, throws a front kick and a head kick. Sotiropoulos avoids. Siver lands an inside leg kick. Sotiropoulos makes his first takedown attempt 45 seconds in but Siver walks off. Siver lands a kick on Sotiropoulos' lead leg. Sotiropoulos works basic one-two punch combos. Sotiropoulos grabs hold of a single-leg. Good balance by Siver who escapes his leg. Silver lands with a punch combo. Sotiropoulos shoots a nice attempt but Siver smoothly spins him away. Sotiropoulos is comfortable exchanging with Siver and pays for it on his third attempt, as Siver drops Sotiropoulos with a left hook. And again, Siver flattens Sotiropoulos with another left hook. Still, Sotiropoulos back up. He shoots, but misses. Siver lands a right hand. Huge round for Siver. MMAFighting.com scores the first round 10-8 for Siver.

Round 2: Sotiropoulos pushes forward with jabs. Siver gets a little wild and almost loses his footing. Sotiropoulos throws out jabs in the second round which is a much wiser approach than trading. Siver lands an overhand right. Siver stuffs a takedown. Sotiropoulos grabs a single-leg and Siver slips away. Siver glances a left hand to the face of Sotiropoulos. Siver lands a straight right in an exchange. Sotiropoulos lands a jab and a combo fires up the crowd. Siver shrugs off another takedown attempt. Sotiropoulos lands a right in an exchange. Sotiropoulos edged Siver in the boxing department at the end there and should win the second. 10-9 Sotiropoulos.

Round 3: Sotiropoulos grabs Siver's lead leg again but Siver just pushes Sotiropoulos off. Sotiropoulos stays active with his hands though the pace has slowed. Another failed takedown attempt by Sotiropoulos. Sotiropoulos lands a straight right in an exchange. Sotiropoulos fails with another single-leg attempt. SIver blasts away with a Mike Tyson-esque combo to body and head. Sotiropoulos misses on another takedown attempt. Siver throws a spinning back kick and Sotiropoulos almost catches it. Sotiropoulos almost catches another kick, this time a leg kick. Siver scores with leg kicks. Siver throws a spinning back kick. Tough round to score. I'll give the round and fight for SIver, but can also see a draw.

Siver wins via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-28 and 30-27).


Siver pulls off the upset and snaps Sotiropoulos' impressive seven-fight UFC win streak. This derails Sotiropoulos' title hopes, as he would have stayed in line for a title shot if he had won.
