Strikeforce Live Blog: Valentijn Overeem vs. Ray Sefo Updates

This is the Strikeforce live blog for Valentijn Overeem vs. Ray Sefo, a heavyweight bout on tonight's Strikeforce on Showtime event at the IZOD Center.

The winner of this fight will likely be second in line as an alternate in this Strikeforce Heavyweight GP tournament after the winner of Shane Del Rosario vs. Lavar Johnson.

Sefo walks out to Jay Z's "On to the Next One." Valentijn Overeem comes out with his Strikeforce heavyweight champion brother Alistair. Overeem, two-and-a-half inches taller, has a one-inch reach advantage.

Round 1: Sefo is clearly a danger on the feet, working leg kicks and reacting fast with his hands. Sefo blocks a head kick attempt. Overeem attempts a front kick to the head. Overeem goes for a slow double-leg takedown but still gets it when he switches to a single. Overeem taps out Sefo with a neck crank.

Well, that was uneventful. Although Sefo is still dangerous on his feet at 39, this was only his third MMA fight and it showed.
