Diaz (23-7) is making his second Strikeforce title defense. Cyborg (18-13), 1-1 in Strikeforce, is coming off a TKO win over DREAM champion Marius Zaromskis.

Round 1: No glove-touching here, but Cyborg does start us off with a blistering head kick attempt that Diaz avoids. Several hard inside leg kicks by Cyborg, and Diaz can't quite check them all in time.Diaz lands a two-punch combo and then moves in for the clinch, but can't do a lot with it. Cyborg keeps after Diaz's right leg, and even backs him up with a hard right hand. Diaz is pawing at him with his right hand jab, and landing it with success. Cyborg backs away and tries to bob and weave, but a left from Diaz hurts him. Diaz goes on the attack now, hammering Cyborg with a flurry of punches. Cyborg has slowed considerably and he's starting to look worn in the final minute. The pace slows, with Diaz finishing strong. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Diaz.
Round 2: Cyborg tries to resume his leg attacks to start the second, now on the outside of the thigh. Some of the pop has gone out of the kicks though, and Diaz seems less concerned. Diaz walks forward behind his jab, but Cyborg throws big with his right hand. Cyborg tries some elbow strikes in close, then tries them from a distance, making you wonder whether he might have hurt his right hand. Diaz lands a punch combo and then a knee to the head. Fabricio Werdum is in a ringside seat, on his feet and shouting instructions in Portuguese to Cyborg. Cyborg tries a spinning back kick, then puts Diaz on his back with a takedown. Diaz wastes little time in grabbing an arm, and while Cyborg defends well initially, Diaz sweeps him onto his back and finishes him with seconds left in the round. Cyborg rolls to his knees and smacks the mat in frustration.
