Strikeforce Live Blog: Herschel Walker vs. Scott Carson Updates

<! mediaid=3831032 Jeff Chiu, AP: img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="" alt="" />SAN JOSE – This is the Strikeforce live blog for Herschel Walker vs. Scott Carson, a heavyweight bout on tonight's Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg event from the HP Pavilion.

Walker (1-0) made his MMA debut one year ago, stopping Greg Nagy with strikes in the third round. Carson (4-1) suffered a first-round KO loss last June.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: Carson whips a head kick across Walker's face to start the fight. That gets Walker fired up, and he comes forward with a right hand and then a left behind the ear that lands cleanly and drops Carson on his back. Walker rushes into his guard and, in his zeal, ends up getting tied up and almost swept. Carson gets to his feet, only to be picked up and slammed back down in a hurry. Carson is turtled up on the mat, offering no response to the punches coming from behind him. Sensing a stoppage might be near, Carson rolls to his back to defend. Walker backs off for a moment and Carson tries to get to his feet. Bad idea, because Walker pounces with a left that drops him again, and this time the ref has seen enough.

Herschel Walker def. Scott Carson via TKO (punches) at 3:13 of round 1
