Efrain Escudero Returns at Rage in the Cage 148

Efrain Escudero (14-2) will look to go 2-0 since his release from the UFC when he faces Jeremy Larsen (6-1) in the main event of Rage in the Cage 148 on Jan. 29. The fight will be contested at 165 pounds.

RITC 148 is scheduled to take place at the Wild Horse Pas Casino in Chandler, AZ. The co-main event will feature Danny Martinez vs. Aldo Escudero in a 125-pound bout.

Escudero defeated Alfredo Martinez Jr. at Desert Rage VII via first-round submission in November.

The 25-year-old Mexican-born fighter was released from the UFC following his September loss to Charles Oliveira. After defeating Phillipe Nover in December 2008 to win The Ultimate Fighter, Escudero went 2-2 inside the Octagon.

Escudero came in overweight in two of his last four UFC fights. He was successful in shedding a pound after being granted an extra hour prior to his UFC 103 fight against Cole Miller, but was forced to change his Oliveira fight to a catchweight bout after weighing in four pounds over the limit.

He signed a multi-fight deal with Shine Fights late last year, but has yet to compete for the promotion.

Larsen is undefeated in his last four fights.
