UFC 125 Draws Paid Attendance of 6,978

UFC 125's official attendance and gate is on par with the numbers of last year's opening UFC event UFC 108.

The Nevada athletic commission revealed Thursday that the Jan. 1 UFC 125 show sold a total of 6,978 tickets for a gate of $2,174,780. 5,896 tickets were given away with 1,077 left unsold.

12,874 witnessed lightweight champion Frankie Edgar battle Gray Maynard to a draw from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In comparison, UFC 108, held at the same venue on Jan. 2, 2009, drew 13,529 in attendance for a gate of $1,969,670.

UFC held a total of three events last year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, UFC 108, 114 and 116. The next one scheduled at the arena will be UFC 130 on May 28, possibly headlined by a third Edgar-Maynard encounter.
