UFC 125 Results: Brad Tavares TKOs Phil Baroni

Brad Tavares made quick work of Phil Baroni at UFC 125 on Saturday night, struggling briefly in the first round but ultimately winning by first-round technical knockout to improve his professional record to 7-0.

Tavares backed Baroni up with leg kicks in the first minute of the fight, and Baroni, who prides himself on being a brawler, looked surprisingly tentative. But Baroni then stunned Tavares with a big punch that knocked him down, and for the next couple of minutes Baroni was in control.

But after a Baroni low blow gave Tavares a chance to collect himself, it was Tavares who went on the attack, landing a combination of punches, followed by a high kick that backed Baroni up, and then a bunch of punches that knocked Baroni down and finally forced referee Josh Rosenthal to stop the fight when it went to the ground. The finishing time was 4:20 of the first round.

Baroni falls to 13-13, and he may be done in the UFC. Although plenty of fans enjoy the "New York Bad Ass," Baroni just isn't good enough to compete in the UFC. That was apparent in the Octagon against Tavares.
