UFC 125 Live Blog: Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares Updates

LAS VEGAS -- This is the UFC 125 live blog for Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares, a welterweight bout on tonight's televised UFC prelims on ION at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Baroni (13-12) missed the entire 2010 year due to injury. In his UFC return in November 2009, he lost to Amir Sadollah via unanimous decision. Tavares (6-0) won his UFC debut in June, beating Seth Baczynski at the TUF 11 Finale.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: The two touch gloves and we're underway. Tavares comes out with leg kicks, Baroni lands a solid left hook. Baroni floors Tavares with a hook. Baroni pours it on but Tavares defends. Baroni takes him down. Tavares gets to his feet after eating a few elbows. We're midway through. Tavares digs low for a takedown but Baroni sprawls. They jockey for position against the cage, and a Baroni knee lands low, leading to a timeout. On the restart, Tavares lands a left, then a head kick that stunned Baroni. Baroni stumbled backwards and waved Tavares in, and he will regret that invitation. Tavares teed off on him, landing multiple shots to the head that forced ref Josh Rosenthal to call it. TKO, and likely the end of Baroni's run in the UFC.

Winner: Brad Tavares via TKO, Rd. 1, (4:20)
