WEC 53 Weigh-In Results

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The smaller fighters stepped on the WEC scale for the last time at the Jobing.com Arena on Wednesday afternoon. It marked the latest in a week full of lasts as we inch closer to the WEC's final event in the form of WEC 53 on Thursday night.

Hometown favorite and current WEC lightweight champ Ben Henderson got the warmest reception, and though he needed to strip all the way down (with the help of a WEC beach towel to preserve his modesty, of course) to hit the 155-pound limit, he made the weight on his first attempt and told the throng of supporters that it was his honor to fight in front of them at the WEC's last event.

Challenger Anthony Pettis gave the champ his due, saying, "Ben's a great fighter. He's the champ for a reason. I've just got to be better than him everywhere."

In the bout to determine who will become the first ever UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz and Scott Jorgenson shared an intense staredown after both weighing in on target. If Cruz's confidence is at all affected by Jorgenson's five-fight win streak coming into this title bout, you certainly wouldn't know it.

"Absolutely it's going to be my belt," said Cruz. " I can't wait to have UFC around my waist."
