UFC 124 Live Blog: Joe Stevenson vs. Mac Danzig Updates

MONTREAL -- This is the UFC 124 live blog for Joe Stevenson vs. Mac Danzig, a lightweight bout on tonight's UFC pay-per-view card at the Bell Centre.

Stevenson (31-11), who is coming off a loss to George Sotiropoulos at UFC 110 in February, was scheduled to fight against Takanori Gomi in August but was forced out due to injury. Danzig (19-8-1) suffered a loss to Matt Wiman at UFC 115 in June due to the referee calling off the fight thinking Danzig was unconscious even though he was not.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: Nothing landed early as both men bob and weave trying to gauge the distance. A Stevenson right 90 seconds in is the first landed punch of any significance. But suddenly, as he comes forward, Danzig lands a counter left hook that knocks Stevenson down face-first, and it's over.

Danzig got in a couple of strikes from the top but ref Dan Miragliotta was already moving in to stop it. Stevenson was out, and he stayed down for a minute or two afterward as Danzig celebrated in the middle of the cage.

It's only the fifth knockout of Danzig's career, and the first since 2006. Stevenson hadn't been knocked out since 1999.

Winner: Mac Danzig via knockout, Rd 1 (1:54)
