UFC 124 Live Blog: Jim Miller vs. Charles Oliveira Updates

MONTREAL -- This is the UFC 124 live blog for Jim Miller vs. Charles Oliveira, a lightweight bout on tonight's UFC pay-per-view card at the Bell Centre.

The fast rising Oliveira (14-0) has submitted Efrain Escudero and Darren Elkins in his two Octagon appearances. Miller (18-2) is on a five-fight win streak in the UFC, beating the likes of Gleison Tibau, Mark Bocek, Duane Ludwig, Steve Lopez and Mac Danzig.

The live blog is below.

Oliveira bounces around the cage endlessly waiting for the action to start. The 21-year-old looks like he can't wait to fight.

Round 1: Oliveira drops down for a takedown early, which Miller easily stops. Miller goes for the takedown against the cage. Oliveira tries a guillotine. Nothing doing on that front. Oliveira is very active from his back, looking for a stray arm or anything available. He tries an arm bar, once, then twice. Miller escapes both. During a scramble, Miller goes for a kneebar and cinches it in. Oliveira taps. That's six wins in a row for Miller, who is quietly among the UFC's lightweight elite.

Winner: Jim Miller via kneebar submission, Rd. 1 (1:59)

In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Miller proclaims himself one of the best and asks UFC matchmaker Joe Silva for a chance to fight for the belt.
