Round 1:
Quiet start to this one as they settle in and measure each other. Davis with some early leg kicks, and judging from the size of his legs, those have to hurt. Boetsch catches a kick and backs Davis up with a right. Davis gets a bodylock and slams Boetsch down. He worked from half-guard, alternating shots to the body with punches to the head. Boetsch tried to improve position, but Davis punished him with elbows from the top. Excellent positional control for Davis. Boetsch gets up with about 20 seconds to go, but Davis controls him against the cage as the horn ends. Davis takes the round 10-9.

Round 2:
Long period of jockeying against the fence. Davis dropped for the double-leg, but Boetsch tried to snatch a guillotine. Davis pulled out, ending up on top. He tried a kimura, but Boetsch pulled free. Davis kept on with it though, and he cranked it with both hands for the submission. Davis got creative with the hold, finding a way to finish. We'll call it a modified kimura.

Winner:
Phil Davis via modified kimura submission, Rd. 2 (2:55)
