Cole Konrad's opponent for Bellator 25 on Aug. 19 in Chicago will be Rogent Lloret, the promotion named Tuesday.Konrad, one of Brock Lesnar's main training partners, competed twice last season for Bellator but enters this season as a competitor in its first heavyweight tournament.
Another heavyweight tournament bout slated for the card is Damian Grabowski taking on Scott Barrett. Eddie Sanchez, Mike Hayes and Neil Grove will also participate in the tournament. One competitor is to be announced.
The 26-year-old Konrad is a two-time NCAA Division 1 wrestling champion and trains out of the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy. Konrad made his debut this year and has compiled two finishes in local cards and two decisions in Bellator.
"I think Lloret is going to be the toughest test I've faced in MMA up to this point in my fighting career," Konrad said in the press release. "I'm going to be looking to finish him as soon as possible. The goal for this tournament is to get in and get out. I'm looking to finish all of these fights as quickly as possible and get out of there."
Lloret, who carries a 9-1-1 record, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and competed in the ADCC 2009 grappling tournament. Six of Lloret's nine wins are by way of submission, but is saying he would prefer the fight to remain on the feet.
"I know that he is a good wrestler and he must be super strong too because he weighs way more than me -- 22 pounds or more," said Lloret. "The only thing I hope is that my background and my speed are a little on top and that I can keep the fight standing. We are both going to give the best we have and it will be a war."
