Dream.15 Live Blog: Shinya Aoki vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri Updates

This is the Dream.15 live blog for Shinya Aoki vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri, a lightweight championship bout on tonight's Dream event from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Aoki will defend his lightweight belt against rival Kawajiri in the main event.

The live blog is below.

Aoki appears to have abandoned his funky stretch pants even when it's allowed, sticking with the Clinch Gear shorts worn when he came over to the US for his Strikeforce fight. I'm guessing it's because he's sponsored by the Dan Henderson company.

Round 1: Aoki shoots 10 seconds in and grabs Kawajiri's left leg and pulls back for a leglock. Kawajiri tries to maneuver out and Aoki switches to an ankle lock. Kawajiri grimaces and shakes the referee off. But seconds later, he taps.

Aoki wins by submission - Round 1, 1:53

Aoki says he will rematch Gilbert Melendez this time in the Dream ring at Dream.16 in September. It's important to note that Scott Coker has said Melendez is out with an injury and will not return until late 2010.
