UFC 115 Live Blog: Tyson Griffin vs. Evan Dunham Updates

This is the UFC 115 live blog for Tyson Griffin vs. Evan Dunham, a lightweight bout on tonight's pay-per-view from the General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Griffin (14-2) and Dunham (10-0) are a rare breed in that they both train out of the Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas and are willing to meet inside the Octagon as well.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: Wild sequence early with Dunham trying a single leg takedown and Griffin hopping on one leg for about 20 seconds defending it and firing off right hands. Dunham eventually gave up the leg. Great combo from Dunham with about 10 strikes, five or six which connected. Dunham took Griffin down and tried to take his back. Griffin got up momentarily but Dunham stayed persistent and took him down and took his back. Dunham looked for the rear naked choke while Griffin defended and threw punches over his own head and into Dunham's. Dunham answered with punches of his own. MMA Fighting scores a close round for Dunham, 10-9.

Round 2: Dunham with a right hook early. The reach advantage is a big factor in the striking for the lanky southpaw. Takedown for Dunham 45 seconds into the round. Dunham tried a D'arce but Griffin escaped. Dunham took him down again and took his back with 2:00 left. Griffin got to his feet with Dunham on his back with a body triangle. Griffin eventually dove forward hoping to knock Dunham off him, but Dunham kept the position. Griffin got up again with Dunham still on his back. The round ran out with Dunham still on the piggy-back ride. MMA Fighting scores the round for Dunham 10-9.

Round 3: Griffin's finding the mark early with his striking, a couple right hands find their home. Dunham counters with a combo. Griffin ducks under and goes for a takedown, but Dunham fights it off and breaks free. Dunham knocked Griffin down with a kick to the body, then changed levels for the takedown. Quickly, he took Griffin's back again. Griffin tried desperately to turn into him and end on top, but Dunham showed tremendous positional control. Instead, Griffin got up again with Dunham on his back. Forty-five seconds left. Griffin slammed him down but Dunham stayed on his back as the round ran out. MMA Fighting scores the round for Dunham, 10-9.

Winner: Dunham via split decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29)
