Seth Petruzelli to Make Octagon Return at UFC 116

Seth Petruzelli will make his return to the Octagon in July -- and without the help of Kimbo Slice.

Petruzelli will face Ricardo Romero at UFC 116 on July 3 in Las Vegas, Petruzelli announced Friday on his Twitter.

Petruzelli, a two-time UFC competitor and a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 2, has won his last four fights since leaving the UFC on a loss to Wilson Gouveia at UFC Fight Night 9 in April 2007.

Petruzelli had fallen off the radar after his first UFC run, but that was until, due to unusual circumstances, was called up to face Slice in the main event of EliteXC: Heat on CBS in October 2008. And in 14 seconds, Petruzelli put himself back on the map by exposing Slice to national public with a TKO.

When Slice signed with the UFC for The Ultimate Fighter 10 last year, a rematch between the two was rumored, but never came to fruition. Instead, Petruzelli was seen on UFC shows as part of his teammate Tom Lawler's wacky entrances.

His opponent Romero (10-1), who fights out of New Jersey for the local Ring of Combat organization, holds a win over James McSweeney.
